BeamPines, Inc. was established in 1981 to provide a range of customized Human Resource consulting services to organizations and their executives. BeamPines’ co-founder and Vice Chairman, Jerome C. Beam, Ph.D., a Diplomate Clinical Psychologist, was a leader in executive evaluation, organizational assessment, and career guidance & planning for over 40 years. In 1967, he co-founded Drake, Beam and Associates, where he established, among other services, assessment-based outplacement as an invaluable source process for achieving successful career transitions. Dr. Beam retired from active management with BeamPines in 2000 and concluded his emeritus role with the Company in 2009.

Dr. Beam played a pioneering role in the creation of the outplacement industry and expanded the assessment process to a wide range of Executive Development applications. As a result, BeamPines pioneered the Executive Development Counseling® process; a highly effective coaching program that helps successful executives leverage their strengths.

 Howard Pines, co-founder and past BeamPines Chairman, shared Dr. Beam’s vision and together they developed the groundbreaking BeamPines’ talent management initiatives that continue to evolve as a result of feedback from client companies and program graduates.

Mr. Pines has a background that combines the full spectrum of corporate Human Resource responsibilities with hands-on management experience and a legal education. Prior to joining forces with Dr. Beam, he was Corporate Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Standard Brands Inc., which was acquired by Nabisco Inc. (now a major division of Kraft Foods), where he had worldwide responsibility for all human resources and administrative functions. Now retired, Mr. Pines long led the firm in its ongoing mission to positively influence executives and their organizations as they have strived for greater effectiveness, growth and achievement.  Mr. Pines also retired from active management with the company when he ended his service in 2009.

Jonathan (Jay) Santamaria presently serves as CEO and Chairman of BeamPines, Inc.  In 2002, after building a highly successful executive search practice with BeamPines’ sister company, The Beam Group, and serving as a consultant and managing director at BeamPines,  Jay assumed the role of President, CEO and Principal Partner of BeamPines, Inc. While building The Beam Group’s practice, Jay relied heavily on the special expertise of BeamPines in the areas of pre-hire assessment and integration and assimilation coaching to ensure full value delivery to his clients. As he built his search practice, he became more engaged in leveraging his own experience and his passion for people development as he took on an increasing number of assignments as a BeamPines coach and consultant. His successes and belief in the principals of executive development led him to an active management role in the Firm, resulting in becoming its’ Principal Partner. Prior to this, Jay spent over 20 years in progressive HR and operating roles at fortune 50 Companies such as ITT and RJR-Nabisco. He was Vice President of Human Resources for the Nabisco Foods Company, Vice President of Human Resources and Training for Nabisco’s Sales and Integrated Supply and Logistics Company and Corporate VP of Human Resources with overall responsibility for Talent Management, Compensation, Organizational Development, Diversity and Staffing. Jay also served as an expatriate in HR and general management roles with Nabisco International. In addition to his operating responsibilities, Jay remains a key resource in developing and delivering custom projects and he maintains his own clients as a coach, consultant and mentor.

Sharon Malone joined the firm in 2009 as a coach and consultant. Over the years Sharon has taken on additional scope and leadership accountabilities for BeamPines.  In 2016 Sharon assumed the title of President and is collaborating with Jay to set BeamPines’ strategy for the future. Sharon came to BeamPines from ING where she had served as vice president of talent management for their businesses across the Americas.  Prior to joining ING, Sharon was vice president of leadership development and a senior HR business partner for Cigna HealthCare. Sharon coordinates our consulting team and also personally delivers services across our assessment, coaching, leadership development, search and transition practices.
