Patrick Bouts is a multilingual strategy coach and leadership mentor, passionate about transforming human capital into economic capital. He combines international HR management experience with consulting experience and has a proven track record in business transformation and measurable organizational change.
Presently, Patrick is coaching senior executives to enable them to create business value, deliver sustainable results and grow leadership capabilities. He helps them thrive in complex environments where, among others, prioritizing, stakeholder management and personal branding are key to success. He further mentors HR professionals to increase their business impact, leads talent management projects, and designs and facilitates leadership workshops. Some of his consultancy clients include leaders in retail, utilities, automotive manufacturing, healthcare and financial services.
Patrick previously served on the Board of Directors of Febelfin Academy, the competence center of the Belgian Financial Sector Federation. He also served in regional and global executive roles with ING Group, a Fortune 100 company. In his last ING position, he was VP of HR for ING Belgium, where he realized efficiency gains of up to 300% and increased the engagement of his team by 20% during the financial crisis. He also won the CEO award for changing the company culture.
Prior to ING, Patrick served as Director Talent Management and Leadership Development for ING Insurance Americas. Based in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.), he increased Merger & Acquisition capabilities across the Americas. He also managed a collaborative program to accelerate business growth in the U.S., which ultimately led to tripling overall multicultural sales. At ING Group’s Corporate Headquarters in Amsterdam NL, Patrick was Deputy Head and Senior Program Manager of ING Business School. He pioneered global leadership development at the senior-most levels of the company, enabling members of the Group Executive Board and of the global top 20 to adopt new business perspectives.
Previously, Patrick was a private banker at Bank Brussels Lambert, a leading Belgium-based bank. He joined as a management trainee and went on to hold various line and staff positions. Earlier on, he was training manager at the Belgian Royal Superior Institute for Defense. He also served as a freelance business consultant for companies active in retail distribution, technology, aviation, services and chemistry. As a PhD research assistant, he published scientific research in leading academic journals.
Patrick is an alumnus in Strategic Management from IMD Business School (Switzerland) and in General Management from London Business School (United Kingdom). He holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology, magna cum laude, from the Universities of Leuven (Belgium) and Amsterdam (the Netherlands). He also received a Master of Business Administration degree, summa cum laude, from the Solvay Management School and the University of Brussels (Belgium).
Patrick is a member of several professional associations and a Six Sigma Executive Green Belt. He is certified in both traditional coaching by the Coaches Training Institute (U.S.) and in new formats of online coaching by eCoachPro (the Netherlands), as well as in other instruments and tools. Patrick speaks four languages (English, Dutch, French and German) and has a passion for quality chocolate. If he is not traveling, he resides in Brussels (Belgium).
